The Dream Makers' Gala is DHDC’s main fundraiser for the year to help fund our services for the community and a great networking event. Every dollar earned goes to help youth and their families gain further education to empower themselves and families. This year we are raising money to help purchase a new laser for our gang & prison Tattoo removal program "Freedom Ink". Dermatologists and certified medical professionals volunteer their time to remove tattoos for people coming out of a prison or gang lifestyle. To receive this service, participants must commit to a gang and drug-free lifestyle. Volunteers provide services bi-weekly at DHDC.

This program is supported entirely through in-kind services from Dr. Eric Seiger and The Skin and Vein Center and volunteers from Botsford Hospital. The goal is to help raise $50,000 to purchase a new laser for the program that helps us expand the program to have weekly removal session and increase the capacity of participants that can be served.

The theme for this year’s  Dream Makers’ Gala is “Experience the Flavors of Corktown” and will take place at the old Tiger Stadium location which is now the new Detroit PAL Center on Michigan & Trumbull. The Gala will be a strolling dinner with drinks & food provided by Corktown’s favorite restaurants & bars.
