A safari is one of the most romantic and adventurous vacations you will ever take”. You will be travelling with one of the world's premier custom safari companies, Cheli and Peacock Safaris (http://chelipeacock.com/) and staying at a selection of exclusive Elewana Collection properties (http://elewanacollection.com/) . Healthy LifeStars’ board member Ruann Ernst has travelled with Cheli and Peacock on 6 safari’s over the years and cannot recommend this trip highly enough.
In your daily game drives you will encounter more wildlife than you can imagine, stay in breathtaking places, enjoy “sundowners” in the wild, and feast on fabulous food. You will also have opportunity to interact with the local villagers and experience their life and culture. This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Your 10-night African adventure begins and ends with a night in Nairobi but quickly moves to the beautiful scenery and amazing wildlife in 3 of Kenya’s top safari venues; Meru National Park, Laikipia’s Loisaba Conservancy and the world famous Masai Mara.
First stop is Elewana Elsa’s Kopje, an environmental award-winning boutique lodge, in Meru National Park. Elsa’s beautifully styled cottages are set among the rocks of the mountain where the lioness Elsa and other orphan lions were raised and released. Meru is famous for its large herds of elephants, its Rhino Sanctuary, and more diversity of animal species than any park in East Africa.
Next stop is Elewana Loisaba Tented Camp (http://chelipeacock.com/lodges/elewana-loisaba-tented-camp) framed by the Rift Valley and the Aberdares, it is perched on the edge of an escarpment with stunning views over the Laikipia plains towards Mt Kenya. The spacious safari tents have a contemporary African style. The Tented Camp offers the many activities available at Loisaba - including camel & horse riding, fishing, day & night game drives as well as bush meals under the African skies. Loisaba is located in the migration corridor and boasts excellent wildlife including the less-seen and rare northern species such as wild dog, Grevy’s zebra, greater kudu and oryx.
Last stop is the Masai Mara; classified as one of the Seven Wonders of the World for its astounding numbers of wildlife and the world famous annual Great Migration. The vast fertile plains are dense with wildlife including the ‘Big Nine’ - buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion, rhino, cheetah, zebra, giraffe and hippo. You will stay at either Elewana Elephant Pepper Camp (http://chelipeacock.com/lodges/elewana-elephant-pepper-camp) or Elewana Sand River Mara (http://chelipeacock.com/lodges/elewana-sand-river-masai-mara) , both luxury tented safari camps.
